This is one of the flattest territories of Costa Rica, with Savannah plains, dry tropical forests and beaches of great beauty the average temperature is 28°C from May to February, but it can rise almost 10°C more from February to April. This is the driest and hottest season in this region.
The terrain is mainly flat, except for its main elevations, which are located in the Guanacaste Volcanic Mountain Range. The rest of the territory has slight slopes that end in the coastline.
The Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is a frequently visited active volcano, where you can see hot springs, volcanic mud boilers, a changing vegetation and more than 300 species of birds. It is part of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park, which shelters more than 32 rivers.
