White-winged Tanager

The White-Winged Tanager (Piranga leucoptera) ranges from Mexico to Ecuador, Bolivia and Brazil. It inhabits in mountain forests, in canopy edges, and trees. Adults are 13.5 cm (5 inches) in height and 15 g in weight.

Matures have part of the head, neck, center of back, rump and entire underparts bright red. Sides of back, wings and tail black. Its upper mandible is black, lower is pale gray, and legs blackish. It feeds on spiders, beetles, roaches, crickets, and fruits.
