Scaly-breasted Hummingbird

The Scaly-breasted Hummingbird (Phaeochroa cuvierii) lives from Belize to north Colombia. Its home is in forest edge, tall second growth, semi-open, clearings with scattered trees, and mangroves. Adults are 12 cm (4 inches) in height and 9.5 g in weight.

It is mostly bronzy-green, and dullest on crown. Feathers of throat, breast, and sides broadly fringed with dull buff. Belly grayish-buff, and corners of tail dull white. Feet black, and bill black except pink basal half in lower mandible. Visits terrestrial bromeliads, and trees.
