The Purple-throated Fruitcrow (Querula purpurata) ranges from Costa Rica to West Ecuador, North Bolivia, and Amazonian Brazil. They inhabit in groups of 5-8 in lowlands of wet forests and foothills. Its measures are 28 cm (11 inches) in height and 115g in weight.

This fairy large bird has an entirely black plumage. Bill silver-gray and legs black. This bird suns itself with wings spread like a vulture. Is diet is based on fruits and insects.
