Rufous Piha
The Rufous Piha (Lipaugus unirufus) lives from South Mexico to West Ecuador. Frequents canopy and middle levels of wet forest. Adults are 23 cm (9 inches) in height and 75 g in weight.
This bird has a crown rufous-brown whit fine, paler shaft-streaks; back and rump duller rufous-brown. Its wings and tail are brighter rufous. They have a throat pale rufous and breast rufous-brown to cinnamon-brown. Its bill is horn-color and its legs are gray to olive. This bird feeds on fruits, insects and spiders.
Three-wattled Bellbird
The Three-wattle Bellbird (Procnias tricarunculata) inhabits from East Honduras to West Panama. They frequent middle and upper levels of mountain forests during breeding season. Its measures are 30 cm (12 inches) in height and 220 g in weight.
Males have head, neck, and chest is entirely white, rest of the plumage is chesnut-rufous, and below darknest. Whit short, scattered, and bristly black feathers. Bill black with a silver line, and legs dark gray. Females are above olive-green and below bright yellow.
Yellow-billed Cotinga
The Yellow-Billed Cotinga (Carpodectes antoinae) is a resident breeder from Costa Rica to western Panama. It is most frequently found high on mangroves. Its size is 21 cm (8 inches) and its weight 98 g.
Males have a crown very pale bluish-gray, back, rump, and tail white. Wings and upperparts are white. Its bill is bright yellow and its legs are blackish. Females have crown and forehead dark ash-gray, wings a tail black and throat and breast pale gray. Its diet is based on fruits, mistletoes, and melastomes.
