Mourning Dove

The Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) breeds from South Canada to Panama. The bird is also known as the American mourning dove or the rain dove and it lives in urban areas, farms, prairie, grassland, and lightly wooded area It ranges from 30 cm (12 inches) in length and a mass of 100 g.

This slim bird has a small-headed, a long pointed tail, a crown, a nape, and hind neck slate. Males and females are similar in appearance, they are light grey and brown in color.
