Mangrove Hummingbird

The Mangrove Hummingbird (Amazilia boucardi) lives only in Costa Rica. Its place is restricted to mangroves where its favorite flower, Pacific mangrove. Its measures are 9.5 cm (3 inches) in height and 4.5 g in weight.

Above is uniform bronzy-green. Its throat and chest are bright bluish-green, becoming bronzy on lower breast and sides. Belly dull white, feet dusky, and bill black except pinkish base of lower mandible. This bird also visits flowers of other trees, vines and epiphytes.
