Little Tinamou

The Little Tinamou (Crypturellus soui) is found from south Mexico to west Ecuador, north Bolivia, and southeast Brazil. It lives in dense second growth, weedy plantations, sugarcane plantations, and forest edge in humid regions.

Matures are 23 cm (9 inches) in length and 250 g in weight. It is mostly dark brown, and below paler. Its belly is grayish-buff, and its crown blackish. Cheeks are sooty-black, and throat whitish. Legs and feet dull yellowish-gray. Its diet is based on seeds, berries, insects, and frogs.
