Green-winged Teal

The Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca) breeds from Alaska and north Canada to north USA, and in winters resides regularly to Mexico and rarely to Costa Rica. This small bird prefers freshwater marshes. Its measures are 35 cm (14 cm) in height and 325 g in weight.

Its head and neck are chestnut, except glossy green side of head. Most of upperparts and sides finely vermiculated with black and white. Breast buffy spotted with black, belly white, and sides of rump buffy. It eats invertebrates.
