Green Hermit

The Green Hermit (Phaethornis guy) is found from Costa Rica to wets Colombia and southeast Peru. Lives in understory and edges of forest or adjacent tall second growth. Matures are 15 cm (6 inches) in height and 6 g in weight.

Above and below is mostly dark iridescent green, becoming deep blue on buff-edged tail-coverts. Lateral retrices mostly black, edged with whitish at tip. Lower belly dark gray, and feet dusky-flesh. Visits flowers including Heliconia, Costus, and Razisea.
