Greater Ani

The Greater Ani (Crotophaga major) breeds from Costa Rica and Panama to the North part of Argentina. This animal habits in mangroves, swamps, and the edges of forests near water. Its measures are 48 cm (19 inches) in length and 170 g in weight.

Adults are blue-glossed black, with a long tail, a black bill and white iris. Youngers have a dark iris. Living in noisy groups, this bird feeds on large insects, lizards and small frogs.
