Great Green Macaw

The Great Green Macaw (Ara ambigua) lives from E Honduras to NW Colombia and W Ecuador.

79cm (31”), 1.3kg. Yellowish green. Forehead scarlet; greater coverts greenish-blue, remiges deep blue; tail coverts sky-blue, central rectrices brick-red tipped with greenish-blue; rest of rectrices blue above; entire tail olive-yellow below. Iris yellow, facial skin whitish, black, tipped with gray; feet dusky. Young: Duller, more olive overall; scapulars, tertials and central rectrices edged with yellowish.
