Crested Guan

The Crested Guan (Penelope purpurascens) inhabits from the South part of Mexico to West Ecuador and North Venezuela. It is seen alone or in pairs in canopy or tall second growth forests. Its measures are 86 cm (34 inches) in height and 1.7 kg in weight.

This large vertebrate has a plumage mostly dark olive-brown, a bushy breast and a red dewlap. Facial skin dark gray to dusky. Bill blackish and legs dull coral-red. Its alimentation is of seeds and fruits.
