Black-cheeked Ant-Tanager

The Black-Cheeked Ant-Tanager (Habia atrimaxillaris) is an endemic species of Costa Rica. Lives in the lowlands of Golfo Dulce, PenĂ­nsula de Osa, and Corcovado National Park. Its size is of 18 cm (7 inches) in height and 38 g in weight.

With front and sides of crown black with slaty feather tips, and a central crown-path bright salmon-orange. Rest of upperparts dark gray, tinged with dull redish. Bill black, and legs dark horn. Its diet is based on small insects, leaves, and berries of melastomes.
